State housing provider Kāinga Ora wants a court to overturn planning restrictions that prevent the building of multi-storey state homes in heritage housing areas like Hamilton East.
Currently development in those zones is restricted by Hamilton City Council’s controversial Plan Change 9.

Traffic will soon be going 20kph faster through one of Hamilton’s worst crash spots, unless a speed limit reversal is reversed.
The “very dangerous” Cobham Drive intersection with Grey St - near Hamilton Gardens - sits in the middle of a stretch of road where the 60kph speed limit is due to be reversed to 80kph in July.
