Poll: Has a dramatic life event ever made you take on a new challenge?

Libby Totton Reporter from Waikato Times

Opening a new restaurant in an economic downturn looks less risky than dropping his 14-day-old girl into a stranger’s arms while his house burned around him.

Chandan Kumar has brought Mac’s Steakhouse and Cocktails to Hamilton, just as many other hospitality venues in town struggle to get customers through the doors.

“Once, I lost everything. I have nothing to lose now,” he says.

Have you ever made a life change after a dramatic event? Tell us about it. (Please add NFP if you do not want your comments used in print.)

Poll: Do you think this was the right decision?

Libby Totton Reporter from Waikato Times

Hamilton City Council is defending a $60,000 spend on a flood of water management PR featuring a TV personality as residents face huge rates rises.

At a time of council cash constraints, Te Radar - real name Andrew Lumsden - catches the eye on the council’s Facebook page, where he currently features in three “explainer” video clips about Hamilton’s water services.

Do you think this was the right decision? Tell us your reasons in the comments (adding NFP if you don't want your words used in print).
