Poll: Do you think the dogs should be able to run free at this garden centre?

A dispute over dogs at a Paeroa garden centre has led to a $300 fine, neighbours honking air horns, spying allegations and questions over whether a business is a “public place”.

Donna Jamieson’s three dogs are her world, and part of the Country Dog Garden Centre experience.

However, various people have complained to Hauraki District Council about barking and off-leash dogs at the business. The council says they can’t be, and recently fined Jamieson $300 for a breach.

It’s Hamilton Gardens as you’ve never seen it before, and unless you live in the area, it will now cost you a little more.

The new Gallagher Visitor Centre opened to the media on Tuesday, after months of work.
