High school in lockdown

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Bayfield High School in Dunedin has gone into lockdown with students being asked to stay home.

In a statement on the schoolโ€™s website on Tuesday morning, it said the โ€œschool is in lock down effective immediately.โ€

It continued, โ€œall students on site will be held safely. Please keep your son or daughter at home if they have not left for school yet.โ€

A police cordon is in place outside the school and there is a large armed police presence.

In a statement, police say they are making enquiries into a threatening email sent to the school on Tuesday morning.

Bayfield High School also went into lockdown in December 2023 after receiving an online threat.
