EarthDiverse History course on the Second Temple Period starts Wed 23 October!

todd from EarthDiverse

EarthDiverse is pleased to announce a new course entitled: "HIS325: An Introduction to the Religious, Cultural and Political Background of the ‘Inter-Testamental’ and ‘New Testamental’ Periods, aka the ‘Second Temple Period’" with Dr Dennis Green, PhD, beginning Wed 23 October 2024, 7:00-8:30pm and running for 6 consecutive weeks.

This 6-week course examines the religio-cultural matrix which produced Judaism, Jesus and the earliest Jesus movement. This period brought about the death of ‘Ancient Israel’ and the birth of ‘Judaism’. We'll explore the intersection of Greek philosophy and Semetic theology. This historical period was an era of rapid religious change and uncertainty, massive cultural clashes and unending political turmoil. As a result, it was also an era of great religious creativity and diversity. This included the creation of a new religious movement in Judaea which would eventually spread throughout the Greco-Roman world.

Our courses are offered as in-person classes, live-streamed via Zoom, or via video recordings which are made available 1-2 days after each class session.

Hoarder’s burden lifted as property turns from dump to developer’s dream

Libby Totton Reporter from Waikato Times

Developers are now eyeing up the property of a Hamilton hoarder that only weeks ago was an eyesore of exploding rubbish bags and trash.

The clean-up job which is expected to cost “tens of thousands” is still underway, with diggers scraping up the last remains of decades-worth of hoarding and illegally dumped rubbish.

Dirt bikes around Hamilton City

The Team from Waikato Police

Police are noticing a rise in incidents involving people riding dirt bikes in an unsafe and dangerous manner around Hamilton City.

Riding motorcycles or dirt bikes in dangerous and anti-social ways is unacceptable. It puts not only the rider but other members of our community at risk.

On Tuesday, Police were called to a single vehicle crash on Hukanui Road, Hamilton, where a dirt bike rider was seriously injured after coming off his bike around 2:15pm.

Police will be making further enquires into these types of behaviours and will take enforcement action where necessary.

We are asking the public to help us, by reporting any unsafe or dangerous behaviour.

If you witness any riding behaviour that could put anybody at risk, please call 111 if it is happening now, or 105 if it is after the fact.

Gain as much information as you are safely able to, including the type of activity, any descriptions of the bikes and riders, and any photos or video footage.

If Police are not able to attend these incidents immediately, follow-up action will be taken.
