Hospital midwives strike
Hospital midwives strike
Important notice for pregnant women
Hospital midwives at Waikato, Thames and Tokoroa hospitals who are members of the MERAS union have issued a notice to strike
When: Twice a day for two hours for two weeks starting Thursday 22 November
Where: Waikato, Thames and Tokoroa hospitals
This does not affect Lead Maternity Carers (LMCs).
Our priority is the safety of our mothers and their babies and we have plans in place to ensure women can access the services they need and are kept safe during the strike.
No women will be turned away from our delivery suite.
We expect the main impact on our maternity services to be the postponement of some ante-natal clinics. We will contact those patients directly.

Poll: Do you think this is probably the reason?
Work changes, divorces and other life events are probably behind many of Waikato’s loss-making house sales, a realtor says.
Recent figures revealed more than 10% properties resold in Hamilton and Waikato District went for less than what the sellers had paid.
Do you think this is probably the reason? Tell us your reasons in the comments (adding NFP if you don't want your words used in print).
