The Loco Loco 'Poll'

As some of us have seen , patronage on Te Huia has dropped below 30 people per day . Some factions are talking of cancelling this service , but I see there is a 'poll' , tellingly with no costings , talking of putting on a 3rd train each day , and extra services on Saturdays and Sundays .

In order to be informed , would they not include basic information ?

Tellingly , there are less buses , because less people travel , mainly due to Covid , but going back to 2019 , there were 18 scheduled buses per day , offering a range of prices and services . So the buses respond to demand , and put on less buses . Why ? Because they need to make money , while still offering a service .

The Loco Loco wants to put on MORE services , because right now they need 4900 people per journey to make money , and they only get 30 . Oh , I know , lets do MORE services . That will work .

And through all this -- WE ARE PAYING FOR THIS . With both or rates and our taxes , we are paying . 200,000 are subsidising 30 people to travel outside the region to work . Madness IMO .

FOUND CAT: BLACK MEDIUM/LONG HAIR MALE, DEANWELL, MELVILLE. GENDER UNKNOWN.

(Posting on behalf of my family member)
Has been hanging around my possibly living under my house for around 2 months now looks scruffy and dirty (even tho doesn't look in photo and photo was taken month ago) won't let me go near, have talked to neighbours and they don't know who it belongs to either. At one stage was meowing so much and continues to hang around outside my house so thought maybe a tom, but due to looking quite poorly so started putting out some food. Thinking it's either lost or a stray. Couple weeks back he looked like he'd been in a fight as had bleeding ear and hes progressively looking bit more worse for wear.
My cousin messaged me this photo about a month ago so gave a bit of time but doesn't seem to be anyone's cat so wanted to check on here before we come up with a plan to help this kitty
Have been trying get close but very weary of humans and just runs under deck otherwise we would've tried a paper collar

Did you know 1 in 4 New Zealand adults will suffer from a mental disorder or distress at some point in their lives? When they do, let’s make sure they don’t have to go it alone. To create safer, more caring communities we need to not only look after ourselves but those around us as well.

For the month of September, we want to come together to share ways to boost mental health and well-being. For example, you could host an online catch up or quiz, call a neighbour who lives alone, challenge your family and friends to try a new hobby or move your body more to improve your own well-being. If you or someone you know is going through a rough patch, don’t forget you can call or text 1737 anytime for free support from a trained counsellor.

Want to share your thoughts? Let us know how you’re looking out for your well-being and helping others with theirs this month by tagging us in your social media posts or emailing us your photos, videos, or experiences to: info@neighbourhoodsupport.co.nz

Dear neighbours,

We're looking for lockdown gardening ideas! With New Zealanders stuck at home everyone is keen to get into their gardens, but they can't get to the shops to buy plants and seeds. So we want to hear from you some suggestions for crops you can start or sow from what you have on hand or useful gardening hacks using just what you have at home already without going to the shops.

It doesn't have to be a big idea - just something like growing spring onions from the base or sprouting avocado seeds to make a houseplant. Send your tips and ideas to mailbox@nzgardener.co.nz and we'll publish the best ideas in NZ Gardener.

Make sure you include your full name and address - only your name and the region you live in will be published but if we use your tip we will send you a free copy of the magazine.
