These changes are all about balance, and make sure each electorate has about the same number of people. That way, all New Zealanders are equally represented in Parliament. If we move an electorate boundary, you could end up in a different electorate to the one you’re in now. One of the region’s premier tourist locations is shaking off its long Covid hangover as a new caving experience opens near Waitomo promising local jobs, and a boost to visitor numbers after the pandemic decimated local businesses.

Co-owner and founder of The Waitomo Experience, John Heskett said pre-Covid there were more than five black water rafting operators working in the caves beneath Waitomo, but that number dropped down to just one.

Developers are questioning whether they want to invest in Hamilton as they let rip at councillors over wastewater related planning brakes that have kyboshed at least 750 projects worth tens of millions.

Matt Stark, who was behind the $25m-$30million MADE market project in Hamilton East told councillors it was intended to be a catalyst for growth but the halt on new builds due to over capacity pipes had stifled that expected flow-on.
