LAST CALL for EarthDiverse's newest course beginning tomorrow (Wed 11:00am)!

todd from EarthDiverse

EarthDiverse is pleased to present Peter Dornauf's newest course entitled "Loss" available as both an in-person class in Hamilton, New Zealand and on-line via Zoom from anywhere in the world with a good internet connection!

LOSS:
• Schopenhauer once said that life was a series of losses. Like all philosophical claims, it is three quarters true. A good deal of western literature, starting with the story of Adam and Eve losing their Eden home, is replete with narratives that deal with the subject. Today there is talk of losing our own garden home – the planet. This series of 3 consecutive weekly talks will traverse the theme of loss—that “dark underpinning of our lives”—looking at everything from the loss of hopes and dreams, to the loss of love, innocence and life itself.

• Lecture 1. Loss of innocence, (coming of age): Wed 28 Aug 2024 (11am-1pm)
• Lecture 2: Loss of life, (death).: Wednesday 4 Sep 2024 (11am-1pm)
• Lecture 3: Loss of Possessions, (theft): Wednesday 11 Sep 2024 (11am-1pm)

Note that you can also sign up to watch the video recordings at a time and place of your choosing!

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Drivers get where they need to go, but sometimes it seems that we are all abiding by different road rules (for example, the varying ways drivers indicate around a roundabout).
Do you think drivers should be required to take a quick driving theory test every 10 years?

Vote in the poll and share any road rules that you've seen bent! 😱

Councillor says he'll go 'rogue' after code of conduct breach

Libby Totton Reporter from Waikato Times

Hamilton city councillors have accepted the findings of a report which determined that fellow councillor Andrew Bydder breached his council’s code of conduct with an expletive-laden submission to Waipā District Council.

Bydder said afterwards he will keep doing what he wants, saying “I’m going rogue”, and that he wouldn’t comply with penalties handed down.

Poll: Do you think the dogs should be able to run free at this garden centre?

Libby Totton Reporter from Waikato Times

A dispute over dogs at a Paeroa garden centre has led to a $300 fine, neighbours honking air horns, spying allegations and questions over whether a business is a “public place”.

Donna Jamieson’s three dogs are her world, and part of the Country Dog Garden Centre experience.

However, various people have complained to Hauraki District Council about barking and off-leash dogs at the business. The council says they can’t be, and recently fined Jamieson $300 for a breach.

Do you think the dogs should be able to run free at this garden centre? Tell us your reasons in the comments (adding NFP if you don't want your words used in print).
