South Wairarapa set to continue polluting wetland
Seventeen years is too long to wait for an upgrade to Featherston's wastewater treatment plant.
An upgrade of wastewater plant was first mooted in 2008 and, after much controversy and many millions of dollars spent, a resource consent application was withdrawn earlier this year and the process started again.
Community Board member Claire Bleakley has accused the South Wairarapa District Council of under investment in her town’s infrastructure which will have lasting damage on an important local wetland.
