“Today is the two-year adoptaversay of Klio and Quintus (Charlotte and Quinn). How pawsome! We wanted to let you know that they are both doing very well. Klio went from being very shy to now insisting on always being on our laps. Always. Even to the point of trying to get up before we have fully sat down. Quintus was diagnosed with diabetes last January, but has responded very well to the insulin injections and continues to be quite chatty and fluffy. Wishing you all well, and thank you again to the whole team -- your mahi and aroha make such a difference in the lives of kitties and humans alike.”

A pied stilt/poaka (Himantopus leucocephalus) and a South Island pied oystercatcher/tōrea (Haematopus finschi) keeping each other company at Sandfly Bay in Dunedin as the Sun goes down. Showing you don't even need to be the same species to get along - they remind me of me and my husband - he's the skinny one dozing off while I'm talking. Birds #27 and #28 for 2022."

Please note that extensive resurfacing works are taking place. They will NOT be able to offer a 10.30pm escorted crossing because of the amount of work being done across the road at that time. For shift workers and those who must travel, they can provide only three escorted crossings per night to fit in with the progress of work. Trucks will NOT be able to cross during the 9pm-4am closure times.
Times for the three escorted crossings per night are:
. 11.30pm Featherston to Upper Hutt
. 12.30am Upper Hutt to Featherston
. 1.30am Featherston to Upper Hutt
.
Bookings for escorted crossings are essential as numbers are limited for your safety and the safety of workers at multiple sites across the hill and should be arranged by Friday 25 February EMAIL: customer@capitaljourneys.co.nz.

If spare time is a rarity - not to worry! This year’s Givealittle page is now live and we’re aiming to fundraise $25,000 for the Tasman Environment Trust. All money raised will go towards the purchase of bait and bait stations to continue and expand wasp control operations.
Find out more about this destructive pest by reading through our new interactive feature on Stuff which explores the tools we have in the fight to rid wasps from New Zealand for good.
