One of Wairarapa's most popular spring events is coming up! Pūkaha’s Garden Tour.
More than a dozen Wairarapa gardeners are excited to be opening their private gardens for Pūkaha’s ninth annual fundraiser this weekend.
“The gardeners have been working so hard preparing their private gardens to welcome the public this weekend,” says organiser Rachael Dell. She’s been visiting the gardens this week and can sense the excitement building – for gardeners and ticket holders.
“These are such generous Wairarapa people – passionate gardeners who balance jobs, studies, families, and busy lives to open their gorgeous gardens to support Pūkaha. In the spirit of community, this is an event that relies on strong relationships. Everyone involved – from the gardeners to the volunteers - are all working in partnership to celebrate Pūkaha Mt Bruce, a Wairarapa Taonga,” says Rachael.
Spring weather in the Wairarapa is turning it on and the gardens are looking stunning.
Gardens open on Saturday and Sunday – 9.30am-4.30pm. This year’s tour features eight new gardens, and five that have never opened to the public before. The route centres mainly in and around Masterton and extends to Eketāhuna, taking tourgoers past Pūkaha national wildlife centre.
Tickets and information about the gardens can be found at www.wairarapagardentour.co.nz... or purchase tickets through i-sites in Masterton, Martinborough and Carterton Events Centre.
Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
