Student who got fake nails for school formal told to remove them or don't come to school
A Dunedin teen who got fake nails for a school ball has been told she is not allowed back to school until they have been removed.
Her mother, who spoke to Stuff on the condition of anonymity, said she'd spent hundreds of dollars for her daughter to attend the King's High School formal.
However, Judith Forbes, principal of Bayfield High School, which the girl is a student at, said they had clear rules over nails and nail polish.
Nails painted a natural colour, or a French manicure, "wouldn't be an issue", but long nails were "just dangerous", she said.
