A gin win for backyard distillery boys

Nicole Mathewson Reporter from Otago News

Two builders putting “Central Otago in a bottle” are making waves worldwide for their locally-made gin.

Hamish Bourke, 32, and Stuart Clark, 42, are pursuing gin-making full-time after a successful showing at two awards ceremonies – one internationally and one in New Zealand.

The pair recently won two medals at the San Francisco World Spirit Competition and another two at the New Zealand Spirits Awards for gins they created earlier this year.

Distilling for Rifters gin began at Clark’s purpose-built shed in Arrowtown in August last year, and the boys were “completely gobsmacked” by their four big wins.

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.

When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
