One-way or two-way? Two options for future of Dunedin's main shopping street
Dunedin's main shopping street is getting a 21st century makeover, but councillors have yet to decide what direction the street will head.
A detailed business case, which will be debated by city councillors on Tuesday, stopped short of recommending whether the street should remain two-way or become one-way.
The advantage of a one-way system was that it offered more space, and had support from vulnerable road users like pedestrians and cyclists, the business case notes.
However, it did not have any support from the retail and commercial members of a central city advisory group.
