Further University of Otago mumps outbreak linked to student parties

Nicole Reporter from Dunedin News

Four students who attended St Patrick's Day parties in Dunedin have been diagnosed with mumps.

Before the March 17 events, eight University of Otago students had been confirmed as having the infectious viral illness – the main symptom of which is swollen salivary glands at the side of the face – with four remaining in isolation.

Otago University student health services alerted students in an email this week, saying another four had tested positive for mumps since 9am on April 1.

Those students who had not received a Measles Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccine were advised to contact their GP or Student Health to arrange to get vaccinated. Read more here

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz
