In Queenstown; aged 90 years. Agricultural scientist who, as a student, had a world-first response of peas to molybdenum. The potash industry took him to Paris and vineyards in the 50s where he learned about food and wine. In Australia he reported on agricultural companies and worked for the First Australians for the Federal Govt. CEO of the NZ Meat Industry 1974-1990, unconventionally involving unions in decisions. Living in Queenstown for over 30 years, he was a volunteer mentor for small businesses. He skied, tramped and entertained many. A private cremation been held.
