Restoring landmark homestead turns heads
Ever felt your reno was never going to end? Spare a thought for the owners of this Fendalton homestead. Restoring their home and gardens after the 2011 earthquakes took six long years, and included rolling the entire house onto the front lawn so new foundations could be laid before rolling it back again.
But the hard work's paid off. The epic project has been recognised in the 2018 Canterbury Architecture Awards, where it won a Heritage Award for its "sensitive alterations" and "seamless transitions from old to new".
Have you tackled a reno project of you own, big or small? We'd love to hear about it.
