Loose Dogs

Peter from Waimairi Beach

RIP George. We were camping this weekend. 2am Saturday morning Ben, my step son who is staying at our house for the weekend phoned to say George had been attacked by 2 dogs who came up our drive. We raced home and got him to the vets but sadly he died. We are so upset. The dogs are at the pound. They were both chipped so the owners got a note in there letter box saying they were both at the pound. They can not get them back until there has been a full investigation. They are registered as French Bull Mastiff and not classed as a dangerous bread, that is a joke. They came back to finish our George off. When Ben tried to stop them they had a go at him. I don't think the owners will get anything done to them apart from maybe have to pay our vet costs. All we want is our George back. RIP George. It was a short life but a loved one.

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.

This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.

Do you think this ban is reasonable?

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.

When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
