Botanic Gardens
When was the last time you went through the Botanic Gardens? I wandered through the other day on the way to a hospital appointment and was reminded just how lucky we are to have such a gem in the heart of our city.
If you're keen to find out more, or get involved, the Friends of the Christchurch Botanic Gardens speaker this month is John Clemens; Manager
Conservation and Sustainable Development Curator at the Botanic Gardens
.
RAMBLING THROUGH THE GARDENS
John’s talk will be about how he grew up exploring the world from public footpaths. He says people
tend to recognise three types of path: they can engage in the formal procession, or take a stroll or
they may fancy a ramble. These different types of paths have been designed or accidently created
for centuries. He will show some examples, and then weather permitting take us on a walk in our
Botanic Gardens to see if we recognise them.

What's your favourite tomato recipe?
Kia ora neighbours. We know your tomato plants are still growing, but we're looking ahead to the harvest already! If you've got a family recipe for tomatoes, we'd love to see it and maybe publish it in our magazine to share with our readers. Send your recipe to mailbox@nzgardener.co.nz, and if we use it in the mag, you will receive a free copy of our February 2025 issue.
Is your drainage system earthquake damaged?
Enviroflo are discovering widespread damage in ceramic drains across the Canterbury region - often there are no obvious signs.
Let our experienced team take care of it. We'll diagnose the damage, provide a report and work with the Natural Hazards Commision (formally EQC) on your behalf.
