Qigong is an ancient Chinese holistic therapy. It is the foundation to Tai Chi, but relatively simpler than Tai Chi.
Qigong includes dynamic and static forms.
Zhineng Qigong emphasises moving meditation rather than static meditation.
It uses the consciousness, body, breath, sound vibration and universal Qi(energy) to bring about a positive transformation of the body, mind and spirit.

Tai Chi is Qigong and martial art which promotes centering and harmony - a blending of the inner and outer, the mind and body, feminine and masculine.

“Since beginning Qigong, my asthma gradually got better, and my breathing has improved. I no longer take any medication for asthma.
My food intolerances have gradually resolved and I can now eat most of the foods that used to cause problems for me.
My energy levels have improved and my right hip pain is hardly noticeable.
My body feels light and I can often feel the qi moving through.
I feel much calmer and any anxiety I had is gone.”
~ Vicki Parr

“The gentle movements stretch every muscle in my body although they look very simple. My muscles feel stronger, and I am mentally stronger too. While practicing, I feel the sense of “unity with the universe.”
~ Susan Sky

“Through regular qigong practice, my back pain is healed and my spine is more flexible. I had also been suffering severe shoulder pain for months. Just like a miracle, after one qigong class the pain had gone. The pain did come back a couple of days later, but much milder. After regular practice, I am pain free. This was a wow fact for me. I LOVE the feeling of connection to the Universal Qi, and would like to share qigong with others.”
~ Graham Good

How Addictive Eaters Anonymous works

Members of Addictive Eaters Anonymous (AEA) achieve sobriety by sharing their experience, strength and hope with each other and living the Twelve Step programme of recovery as a way of life. By regular attendance at AEA meetings, getting a sponsor, working the steps, keeping in contact with sober members, and carrying the message of recovery to the still suffering addictive eater, members are freed from addictive eating and the obsession with food.

Newcomers sometimes struggle to understand how AEA works. There are no rules and no one appears to be in charge. No one seems to tell anyone else what to do. This is because AEA members simply share what has worked for them. They are guided by the the Twelve Traditions of Addictive Eaters Anonymous. Members have found from their own experience that change must come from within and cannot be forced upon another person. At the heart of the AEA programme is the spiritual concept of surrender. When a newcomer is ready and asks a member for help, the following suggestions are generally made to them:

From reporter Tina Law:

KiwiRail is putting communities at risk by causing delays to work on cycleways across Christchurch, a city councillor warns.

The state-owned enterprise tasked with managing the country’s rail network is being blamed by the Christchurch City Council for delays on at least four cycleway projects – all of which were supposed to be fast-tracked thanks to Government shovel-ready funding.

The proposed cycleway routes either cross or run parallel to KiwiRail’s tracks, therefore design changes are needed to make it safer for cyclists.

However, the design work requires approval from KiwiRail, and in many cases these have not been forthcoming or KiwiRail and the council disagree about the level of work that is required. Read the full story here.
