Community Op Shop Temporary Closure

Linda Turner from Hornby Community Care Centre

In light of the recent coronavirus announcements, it has been decided to temporarily close the Community Op Shop here in the Hornby Community Centre. As much as it saddens us to have to close, it is in the best interest of our most valuable assets…our volunteers and our community. For those that know our little shop, our volunteers are mostly older adults over 70 or those who have compromised immune systems due to underlying medical conditions so we are not prepared to risk their health. After speaking with all the volunteers, be rest assured they are all keen to be back on board at the Op Shop once this health crisis is over. In the meantime, if anyone in our community is in serious need of clothing or household goods please ring Linda on (03) 349-9793 for assistance. Please take care of yourselves and your family. Keep in touch with loved ones, friends and neighbours. And please….let’s make KINDNESS contagious instead

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.

This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.

Do you think this ban is reasonable?

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.

When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
