Many in Christchurch should have chlorine-free water in May
Public water-saving measures appear to be paying off with much of Christchurch likely to have a chlorine-free supply again in May.
However, based on progress up to Tuesday, more than 150,000 water users will have to put up with chlorinated water until at least the end of June, when an ultra-violet treatment plant is due to be commissioned.
Council water supply improvement programme manager Helen Beaumont says the council has not yet "given up on the May target" for taking chlorine out of the city's water supply.
