Secondary Schools Waka Ama Canterbury Championships
It was great to be part of this event .With strong support from out Eastern suburbs teams .Haeata performed with excellence in the Girls and Mixed events . Avonside girls and Shirley boys also performed awesomely . Having grown from the inaugural event last year to this year including include teams from Motueka , Invercargill and Cheviot . Big thanks to our local Waka Ama clubs Waitaha paddling club ,Te waka pounamu, Te awa haku and Kaingaru who supported this event . Supplying waka , lifejackets , paddles , support craft / crew and time keepers . Look forward to being part of this event next year as well .

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
