Amateur Radio hobbyists
When you thinking of eating, what is the first thing that comes to mind?
Obviously the answer to this question will be different for everybody.
For some it will be pizza, others it might be a big juicy prime rib steak and on and on.
We all have unique personal tastes and prefrences for food. We reveal those tastes when we select a particular restaurant. Mexican, Italian, McDonalds, Burger King, Denny's...and no,
that is not my restaurant but I am honored by their name selection.
Have you ever eaten at a buffet?
that's one of my favorite forms of eating.
All-you-can-eat, what-you-want-to-eat buffet. Mmmmm mmm.
Don't you think this makes a great comparison to our hobby of radio communications?
The first choice we can make in entering this radio realm is do I want analog or digital
Now, what was the original question again?
Oh yeah!
Why would anyone want to eat at the DigiCommCafe?
Well, I think you know by now. There is something tasty here for everyone that likes radio communications
1 there are plenty of very interesting, worth-knowing individuals who have a story to tell and are interested in your story
2 there are plenty of tables in this cafe for you to sit with folks who share your particular interests, whether you have a license or not
3 the price is right — FREE
4 we have combined knowledge and resources to assist you with your technical issues and this will only get richer as more and more folks come to eat here
#5 and did I already say...its FREE! Well, donations won't be turned away.
Radio communications is more than just talking. Its also listening. Its sharing your day, your life with folks who care about what you are experiencing in life with a feeling of brotherhood in our common passion for the hobby.
I think people want to be a part of something bigger than themselves where they can have a sense of accomplishment much like when you passed your first test to get your license privileges.
Remember that day? Wouldn't you love to see someone else have that experience?
Wouldn't you love to be a part of a movement to help young people learn about this great hobby and be their Elmer?
You can! Right here in the DigiCommCafe in its many forms such as: this community portal
right here at tinyurl.com... or on our
open-to-all Zello Channel — zello.com/digicommcafe crosslinked to the IRN - International Radio Network on TeamSpeak3;
or an assortment of digital amateur radio UHF and VHF modes such as Allstarlink, Echolink, DMR, D-Star, Fusion or for those with no radio
gear just use your phone in the IRN network and go to a channel with crosslinks to many of these modes.
I could go on and on about why I believe people would want to eat and fellowship here in the DigiCommCafe.
Hopefully I have convinced you to join theGuild if you're not already a member and belly up to the digital buffet served up by theGuild in the IRN and feast to your hearts content.
The only tips we desire are knowing that you enjoy it to the point that you want to give back in the form of service and involvement in theGuild to help us do our best to grow interest among young people in the still very exciting hobby of amateur radio. Won't you help us #BuildtheGuild?
The DigiCommCafe (VoIP) and DigiCommCafe (RoIP) Diners open and available to all who wish to host a digital buffet (net) for their club, organization or event. Reserve your time slot by contacting My Friend Denny - KD5DLJ - The DigiCommCafe Admin at kd5dlj@me.com
Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
-
84.8% Yes

13.8% No

1.4% Other - I'll share below
