The Christchurch City Council decided on Wednesday to ask Environment Minister Penny Simmonds to pause the $4.2 million independent hearings process, which is considering housing density rules imposed by the former Government.
Due to existing laws the council can not make the decision itself.
The intensification plan being considered allows three residential buildings of three storeys each to be built, without a resource consent, across vast parts of the city. It also allows for higher limits in main suburban centres.
The plan, which has garnered strong opposition from residents’ groups, provides enough space for housing for the next 150 years.
But the new Government has said it would make the density standards optional for councils.

I think it's got its own speaker. might suit a electrical tech minded person to get going. Years ago, 25 plus, I replaced a burnt out resistor and got it going again for children to belt out there best silent night number, or 'od to joy. More pleasing than a recorder. It has a volume nob. It is a rather large unit, so takers will need some spare room. Also does any one know how to run/work lyric pad please.

Senior caregiver Glenys Stewart, Bella’s owner, has been bringing Bella in regularly over the last couple of months. The residents of Ryman Healthcare's Papanui village have got to watch Bella’s little family grow with the recent arrival of two new puppies.
“(I’ve been bringing Bella in) pretty much since she was about 8 weeks old," says Glenys.
"I tried to bring her in a wee bit just to socialise her but also for the residents to see her when she's a baby because they love them when they're puppies. Absolutely adore them.”
Bella, who is an 18-month-old Shih Tzu, had her puppies about two weeks ago. The father, Tanner is a Shih Tzu/Maltese cross and together they’ve made the cutest tri-coloured puppies. Bella’s visits and the arrival of the puppies has added some real joy and interest for the village residents.
