‘Road to zero’ out, but some slow speeds remain

Hi neighbours, some temporary speed reductions around Christchurch schools will remain for now, despite signalled changes from the new Government.

The Christchurch City Council has been told that deadlines and targets for reviewing speed limits have been revoked, but parts of an interim multimillion-dollar programme are going ahead because the work is already under contract.

However, with new rules foreshadowed, the council may find itself needing to rip up and replace the road signs with a more expensive option.
