Power Prices
I switched away from Flick over Winter to ECOTRICITY. After 2 ridiculously large accounts from Ecotricity I switched back to Flick and wish I had never changed. Even over Winter with presumably high Spot prices I believe there would have been big savings.
Here is a copy of part of an email conversation with Ecotricity. "...my Flick account has ...7 days usage at a charge of $33.43 (daily abt-$5)
This contrasts my current Ecotricity acct of $240.70 for 17 days service- approximately 3 times Flick's charge.
Prior to changing to Ecotricity my average monthly charges averaged $220. 2 months of Ecotricity bllls approximate $1440.(daily abt $17)
Costs/time period are not strictly comparable as (.your supply..) was during Winter whereas the Flick acct was for supply at the end of Winter and into Spring but the differences are too striking for season to be the sole explanation."
To their credit Ecotricity had the courtesy to reply in full to my complaint but their explanation for the huge price disparity basically boiled down to " We charged you so much more because Flick is a lot cheaper than Ecotricity"
Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
