FERRYMEAD ROTARY - NEW WORLD ART SHOW
Ferrymead Rotary is holding an Art Show on June 7th 6:00pm - 9:00pm (opening night and auction) and Saturday 8th June 9:00am - 4:00pm at the Mt Pleasant Community Centre. Entry for Friday night (auction at 7:00pm) is $20 pp which includes a drink and nibbles and admission on Saturday is a gold coin donation.This year we are featuring works by 7 Fine Arts students completing their final year at the Ilam School of Fine Arts (Canterbury University) as well as a wide range of exhibits from local artists.
The auction will include pieces kindly donated by the following artists - Katherine Mateer, Jackie Hancock, Linda Burns, Rae Manson, Tricia Hewlett and Emily Quane, some of which are displayed below.
All proceeds go to supporting people and projects in our local community.

I came to my first meeting because my obsession with food was driving me crazy mentally, and because I was afraid I would not be able to stop putting on weight. I was embarrassed and angry about being there. I found the meetings very confronting and I only managed two, even though it had been suggested by a member to go to six. I stayed away for several months and then came back to stay, after more time of battling over and under eating and the obsession with food. I had already been in Alcoholics Anonymous eighteen months at that stage. After putting down alcohol and drugs, the food obsession became extreme.
