Bird of the Year - Vote Kingfisher to clean up our rivers!
It's Forest & Bird's Bird of the Year competition time again, and we're sponsoring the Kingfisher, or kotare. Now just think about what diving into a polluted Avon or Heathcote river does for the health of our kingfishers! Not much! But if we clean up our rivers, and provide better, cleaner habitat, imagine the increase in birds like kingfishers we'll see in our city. Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)

Handy gardener wanted with large chainsaw
Just needing a quick tidy up sawing. I’ve done most of the hedges however not the power saw that can cut through the branches I can’t. just an hour but may lead to regular work
