I am especially concerned about the socially isolated and the physically less abled in the community.
If you have animals directly affected by the incident please call council on 03 941 8999, the Animal Mgmt Unit will do their best to care for dogs, the SPCA have offered assistance with all other animals.
I understand an explosion has taken place in Northwood. Emergency services have responded and have blocked off the scene.
Please give them the space to operate in and not to go to the area if at all possible.
Please check on your friends, family and relatives in the area to ensure they are safe
