Bouncy castle water park

Ian from Kaiapoi

When I heard a bouncy castle water park was going to be put in Lake Courtney I thought it was just a wind up. Today I saw the containers full of equipment have arrived. I've found previous news articles saying submissions and voting was completed. This will be an ultimate fail and probably cost us our future aqua parks. (which are an amazing vision) Lake Courtney is a Swan and Duck pond with very little flow of water. Articles say water testing was done for e coli? Probably the sample was from the top of the water not including the silt. What about the parasite that causes Duck Itch in humans. (It is a real thing google it) I've fished in the lake and caught a couple of eels but I wouldn't walk or swim in the lake. Imagine the water quality after a few thousand people have been walking in and stirring up all the bird shit. I'm not against fun I just think the position is wrong. Maybe in Kaiapoi river near the bridge, at least the water has some flow and will be clearer.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
