2017 Community Pride Garden Awards
Trophies and certificates were presented to the winners in our beautiful community at an event held yesterday. The event was organised by Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood community board. Looking at the photos on display, the judges would have had a tough job on their hands choosing the winners.
Ron Andrew, President of Christchurch Beautifying Association told the gathering that the judges went through over 4000 streets to "locate" gardens who were worthy of shortlisting.
Some glimpses from the wonderful event, which was well attended by members of our community. Credit for all photos: Aaron Campbell.
This is the 27th year these awards have been running.
Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
