Our Moon: Then, Now & Beyond - the perfect Winter exhibition at Aratoi
Over the last few years, Aratoi has been proudly curating exhibitions that relate to Matariki for the whole whānau to enjoy. This year they are delighted to have the wonderful "Our Moon: Now, Then & Beyond" 20 May - 16 July - the exhibition is on loan from Nelson Provincial Museum.
The Moon has been a constant source of fascination for thousands of years all across the world. This exhibition brings together a 5m diameter scale model of the Moon and explores the mythological, the scientific and cultural importance of our nearest neighbour and its role in marking Matariki.
See the Moon up close, find out what it smells like and what mythology is around it in this hands-on and interactive exhibition. Find craters on the Moon, the Sea of Tranquility, learn about the Maramataka and even build a space station! There are whānau activities and public programmes with this exhibition. See all about it here: www.aratoi.org.nz...

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
