Kitten foster carers needed

KittyCat Rehoming Wairarapa

We are looking for foster carers who are open to socialising wild kittens!

It's an extremely rewarding experience and much easier than most think. Kittens under 8 weeks of age socialise up particularly fast, and can warm up your heart and home very quickly. Older kittens will take longer (2 to 6 months) but it also depends very much on the particular kittens temperament. The key to socialising is to let the kitten decide when to engage with you. No handling is required - only patience!

We provide you training and support as well as food, flea/worm treatment, vet care and all the essentials a kitten needs. You provide a safe, warm and secure separate room or private office, as an indoors only environment for the cat to grow 🐱 Dedication, time and patience is required, atleast 1 to 2 hours socialisation on each week day, and 3 hours "hangout time" on each weekend day. Such as reading to them, studying, listening to calming music etc. The more time spent, the faster the process may be. Your own pets and children will have no interaction with the wild kitties in your foster care. Transport preferred, but not essential.

If you can open up your heart, home and spare room to give a wild kitten/s a much deserved second chance, please get in touch with us.

⭐ Testimonial from a Foster ⭐

I have always loved cats, but I used to be the person that said “I could never foster as I would want to keep them all”. Or, “I can’t foster, my older cat would hate it”. So I would put it out of my mind and not think about it again. I never realised that these were just excuses, until 2019 when I found three 6 week old wild kittens whose mum had died, and if I didn't take them in they would not survive.

I was so lucky to have the support and guidance of Kittycat Rehoming on this rescue mission. Fostering is one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had. Saving, loving, taming and socialising these three young kittens, who would have elsewise lived an unfair feral lifestyle they didn't ask for, was the best thing I could have ever done. Watching them grow strong, learn to trust humans and find loving forever homes was an absolute incredible experience. Knowing that these animals are alive, happy and healthy because of the work and dedication I put in, it's an indescribable feeling. Did I sob for days when they were adopted? Absolutely! Did my older cat like having them in the spare room? Probably not, but this was temporary for him and they are kept separate. And would I foster again knowing I am saving lives? In a heartbeat.
