Balclutha Basketball shootout

Just ahead of this week's Clutha Leader, wishing Southland Sharks hopeful Lydon Aoake of Clinton all the best going into the pre-season basketball league, which is due to start.
He's keeping his eye in by participating in the Clutha Summer League in Balclutha. There's a shoot-out on Monday at 6pm sharp at the South Otago High School community gym. Doors open 5.45pm. There will be prizes. Contact email for Basketball South Otago: basketballsouthotago@gmail.com

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?

With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.

This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
