Dairy New Zealand
The dairy industry in New Zealand kills more than two million days old calves per year. That is more than five thousand calves per day. For a cow to produce milk she has to be pregnant and give birth to a calf. These unwanted byproducts of the dairy industry are killed. Sweet, innocent beings that have barely learned to walk. Dairy in NZ contributes 22.9% of our green house gas equivalent emissions, more than all our transport combined. We have the highest green house gas emissions per capita from animal agriculture in the world. Dairy is also one of the most environmentally degrading and polluting industries. There are many plant based alternatives available. Let us choose a cool planet and a kind heart.
Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
