Try this Paprika Mayonnaise recipe to go with perfectly grilled burgers or even chips!
Paprika Mayonnaise (Makes approx. 150 ml)
Ingredients
1 egg yolk (room temperature)
1 pinch salt
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoons vinegar or lemon juice
125 ml canola oil (room temperature)
1 teaspoon paprika powder
Method
1. Place the yolk in a clean bowl.
2. Whisk in the salt and the lemon juice or vinegar, mustard.
3. While continuing to whisk, start pouring in oil, drop by drop.
4. Once the emulsion has begun to form, start adding the oil in a steady thin stream, whisking constantly.
5. When the sauce is thick, check seasoning.
6. Add one teaspoon paprika powder.
7. To thin, whisk in a little warm water or more vinegar.
Useful Tips
Mayonnaise may curdle there is too much oil, or if is added too quickly, or if the mixture is under-whisked. However, a curdled emulsion can be rescued by very gradually whisking it into either a fresh egg yolk or a spoonful of boiling water in a clean bowl.
To avoid oily-tasting mayonnaise use fresh oil which does not have a strong flavour. Canola and rice bran oil are two examples.

Hi Neighbours, John Tamihere would unwind change and proposed changes to household waste collection. No food scraps collection, and keep general waste at weekly instead of fortnightly. Do you think it's a good idea? Read the story below.

My name is Emma Gardiner and I'm in the final year of my Naturopathy and Medical Herbalism degree at South Pacific College of Natural Medicine. I also have my Bachelor of Applied Science in nursing and have 20+ years experience in health care.
As part of our final year we run a health clinic (supervised by qualified naturopaths) and are required to see clients to develop health and wellness plans for them. This process involves an initial appointment where we do a comprehensive health review which we then use to formulate a personalised plan that we present at a follow up appointment a week or two later. We then support you to reach your health goals with ongoing appointments if you would like them.
Initial appointments for 18-65 year olds are $40 (90mins)
Children 6-18, students, & unwaged have a reduced fee of only $20.
Free consultations for under 6’s and over 65’s.
All follow-ups are free! (45-60mins)
The Paua Clinic is in Ellerslie and my clinic times are:
Mondays & Thursdays from 2pm - 7pm.
Why see a naturopath?
Whether you are suffering from a chronic or acute condition, looking to better manage stress, balance hormones, improve your skin or digestion, boost your energy and immune system, or simply enhance your overall health & wellbeing, we provide support for a whole range of issues by focusing on identifying the underlying causes & contributing factors and creating a health & wellness plan to address them that is realistic & individualized to suit your needs.
If this sounds like something that would benefit you, or someone you know, bookings can be made at:
www.ezybook.co.nz... Booking page Emma Gardiner
Alternatively, you can call (09) 526 9277 to make a booking.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope to be able to support some of you on your health journey.

This great cookbook of harvest recipes (many of which were mined from our archives) was so much fun to put together. It's free with our September issue, and we'd like to thank our friends at Webstar for making it possible. It helped make our anniversary issue feel so special.
