Special Character Areas for the chop - public meeting tonight
A great article in the NZ Herald today from Clr John Watson on the proposal from Government and Auckland Council to change the Unitary Plan to allow the removal of special character heritage houses from Birkenhead and Northcote.
And a reminder that a community-led, pro-heritage public meeting is being held this evening to discuss the removal of the special character overlay:
6.30pm Tuesday 3 May, at Birkenhead Bowling Club, 93 Mokoia Ave, Birkenhead.
The meeting is being run by Shore Action member Danielle Grant, Northcote Point Heritage Preservation Society, Birkenhead Heritage Society, Northcote Residents Association and Birkenhead Residents Association.
