Takapuna Wishing Tree
The Takapuna Community Hub-Kotahitanga is excited to invite you and all our local community to come along to the Takapuna Wishing Tree on Tuesday, 29th May 2018 from 10:00am-1:00pm at the Mary Thomas Centre, 3 Gibbons Rd, Takapuna. This will be an opportunity to share and express your wishes and hopes for the community.
A wishing tree gives us all a chance to share a collective space that represents our wishes, hopes and dreams. Everyone is invited to write a little wish on the cards provided at the Oak tree outside the building and it will be put up on the tree.
After a week of wishing, we will consolidate all the wishes and prepare a display for the community. Relevant information will be presented to the Local Board and any other bodies that could help make some of these wishes come true!
A number of local charities, social services and businesses will be present at the Hub ready to share information about how they are supporting your local community. Food, music, craft activities for children and other fun stuff will be part of the day.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
