Happy Birthday.
Seven. What a lucky number.
One of the most common questions we get asked as a practice is "what is the perfect age for braces".
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children be seen no later than age 7.
The real answer is that there is no best age for braces. Every child or youth is different and therefore there is no one size fits all answer to this question. The pace of oral development differs from individual to individual.
•
However, as a general rule, see us when they are 7 years old. By this time the first permanent teeth will have come through.
So we can get a pretty good idea what will need to be done during your orthodontic treatment program with us.
Free Monitoring Program Through Bachmann
•
We will also put in place a free, regular oral development monitoring program for your child that will run right up until they start their program to ensure we begin their treatment at the best time possible. We have many years of experience & training in assessing a child's pace of oral development. As such, it is usually immediately obvious to us what level of treatment will be required, if teeth will need to be removed for any reason and more.
•
When we assess a child or young adult, we always consider what their teeth are likely to do in between the time we first see them and when their treatment is expected to begin. We then can more accurately estimate the best age for braces in their specific case. We always tailor our orthodontic treatment programs to each and their needs.

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
