Its very easy to do, you need a glass container, lid and some milk.
This is a live milk kefir culture (known as grains but they are soft and squishy) originating in the Caucasus mountain region of Russia and when taken care of will last forever.
Kefir is incredibly healthy for the gut and contains billions of microorganisms. Probiotics promote a healthy balance of gut bacteria and have been linked to a wide range of health benefits. These include benefits for weight loss, digestive health, immune function and more.
This starter will transform milk into kefir and can be a drink (add to smoothie, pancakes or even used to make into cheese.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
