As part of the plan - we need Street Captains in every street across Pakuranga who are willing to connect with everyone who lives in their street and be the point of contact for those who might need assistance, and helping to co-ordinate assistance whether that is doing the shopping for those who can’t leave home or just simply giving those who are lonely a regular call.
There might already be a Neighbourhood Support Group in your street - in which case your lead might like to register as the 'Street Captain' - or this might be a great opportunity to reignite your NSG.
If you can be a Street Captain in your street - please fill out the form at the link below.
COVID-19 is going to be a challenge for us all - but if we get together and support our neighbours and the vulnerable, together we will get through it!

A Street Captain will:
- contact everyone in their street.
- be the point of contact for anyone who might need assistance.
- help communicate any key messages to your street.
Simeon is then trying to organise "Suburb Captains" to support the "Street Captains".

In it he links to this document where you can sign up if you're willing to be a Street Captain -

There are so many neighbourly people on here (haha pun intended) - it would be good to link with our local MP and make sure we're well organised and on the same page.

My Parents told me about the Polio virus of the 1930 -40's and as a kid they closed schools and my mother had to do swimming lessons in a heated pool to cure polio which worked and now we have the "Corona Virus".
If we look at each of these viruses and how other countries have been affected.

It's great to see so many businesses and volunteers offering free help during COVID-19. While trying to share these with people I care about, I'm finding it hard to keep track. So I have compiled relevant and searchable lists of volunteers and businesses offering free resources here for families who are socially distancing or self-isolating due to COVID-19 in New Zealand.

I am not affiliated with any of the businesses, nor do I make money from ads. I'm just using the tools that I have and doing my part to help out.
If you know of a company that is offering free resources that may be helpful for the community, or you would like to volunteer your time to help others, please submit the information via the forms.

Animals need you! We currently have 921 animals looking for a home across the country. During these unsettling times we want to ensure adoptions don’t slow down and we can find our animals in need the loving families they deserve.
From tomorrow, we are reducing adoption fees for all animals across the country:
• Puppies and kittens have a $99 adoption fee,
• Adult dogs and cats have a $50 adoption fee,
• Small animals such as guinea pigs and rabbits have a $25 adoption fee
• Adoption fees for other animals are available on request.
Adopting an animal will allow centres to continue to provide excellent care and comfort for animals in need, while helping SPCA during this uncertain time. With families likely to be spending lots of time at home, now is an ideal time to adopt.
We are taking all the necessary cleaning and hygiene protocols across all our Centres. Centres will be practicing social distancing, which may mean visitors could be asked to wait in their vehicles before being welcomed into their local centre – please do only visit our centre if you are looking at adopting an animal.
Please SPREAD THE WORD!
For more information on Covid-19 and animals visit our website here: www.spca.nz...

Hi neighbours, some cafes are temporarily banning the use of reusable coffee cups - or 'keep cups' - because of the coronavirus.
Has your local stopped accepting reusable cups?
