FREE TRAINING FOR 'CITIZEN TRANSLATORS'!

If you are bilingual and want to help your community with one or more translation projects, particularly for crisis settings, this is the course for you. Training is provided by International Network on Crisis Translation (INTERACT), which is a group of internationally recognized translators.
WHAT: Basic Principles of Translating for Citizen Translators
WHEN: TUES 30 April, 9.30 – 11.30am
(9.30am to sign in for a 10am start)
WHERE: The University of Auckland, Room 312, Arts 2, Building 207
Corner of Grafton Road and Symonds Street, City Campus, Auckland

Places are limited and registration is essential.

DETAILS:
You are invited to attend a special workshop on training community or ‘citizen translators’ to improve community capacities across Auckland before, during and after a crisis event. This event is being organised by the New Zealand Red Cross, in collaboration with Jay Marlowe and Minako O’Hagan from the University of Auckland, and Federico Federici from the University College London (UCL). The aim is to provide some of the basics of translation to better ensure that important disaster messaging reaches those in diverse communities who may have limited or no understanding of English.
