Lost cat - Mt Eden

Anna from Mount Eden

Still missing my girl 😔

Evie is a 13 year old grey tortie - quite pretty colouring (mainly grey with caramel) with some cream on her chest. No white on her at all. She has been missing since 16 November, 2023.

Please take a screenshot of this post so you have photos and my number handy in case you see her.

She likes people but might not let you pick her up so please take a video or photo if you see her and call me asap on 021 072 0933 (Anna).

She’s quite lean and small to medium size. When she’s happy she ‘talks’ ❤️ De-sexed and microchipped.

Last seen in Mont Le Grand Rd, Mt Eden. Please check your garage, shed, garden and under deck and house.

Apparently cats who are hiding don’t meow so please look carefully even if you don’t hear her. Thank you so much 🙏

Free Knife Sharpening Workshop in Grey Lynn

Amanda Chapman from Auckland Library of Tools

Auckland Library of Tools in collaboration with Repair Cafe Aotearoa are excited to bring you the next in a series of repair and maintenance workshops every first Thursday of the month at Hackland Makerspace, just behind ALoT!

Thursday September 5 will be a free hands-on knife sharpening workshop! So gather up your dull knives and come on by to sharpen your skills and your knives with us.

Swap knowledge, tips and tricks, stories, and elbow grease with your neighbour and improve your skills, while extending the cutting lives of your knives. Bring appropriate tools if you have them, or use the tools available in house. There will be nibbles and tea on hand, but contributions of food and beverage are very welcome. The vibe is relaxed, and social. Teens are welcome to participate, with an accompanying adult. We also have a play area for kids and there will be a couple of toddlers around as playmates!

RSVP appreciated. There will be a brief introduction and meet and greet at 6pm followed by a knife sharpening demonstration. Then our sharpener will assist guests with the sharpening of their own knives. Going to be late? No problem! Late-comers welcome.

Getting here:
Bus stops on Ponsonby Rd (InnerLink, 20, 105, 106, 866), Great North Rd (11T/W, 18, 20, 195), and Karangahape Rd (WX1)
We are also near the northwestern cycleway.
Limited free parking is available next door or on side streets. There is no parking in front of ALoT/Hackland.

These workshops are part of the Repair & Share project, a weekly repair cafe hosted by ALoT, RCANZ, and Hackland and supported by Auckland Council.

Police are investigating after a bus driver was allegedly punched in the face and "had some teeth knocked" out in Avondale.

Brian from Mount Roskill

Police said it was alerted to the incident at about 10.17am yesterday.
"The driver received facial injuries and was transported to hospital," a spokesperson said.
"Police are making inquiries into the assault to identify those involved."
Tramways Union president Gary Froggatt said the driver was allegedly punched in the face by a passenger.
Froggatt wanted more to be done about "issues like this".
"I realise you can't have a policeman on every bus, but the drivers and the unions seem to be left out of the conversation.
"He's in hospital getting stitches put in his knee. He had his teeth knocked out," he said.
Froggatt said he got "about three or four calls like this" from drivers a month.
"I feel for the family, the drivers should be able to go to work and go home safe."
Auckland Transport said it was aware of the incident and assisting police with their investigation.
Group manager of public transport operations Rachel Cara said the bus operator was ensuring the driver has the support they need.
"We operate over 13,000 bus services every weekday and fortunately the majority of our passengers are amazing, but these isolated incidents are concerning.
"Our bus drivers work tirelessly to keep Aucklanders moving and deserve to feel safe in their place of work.
"We continue to work closely with police, other agencies and communities to improve safety on public transport."
Police urged witnesses to call 105.
