Hinemoa St/Awanui St road changes

John Gillon from John Gillon - Kaipatiki Local Board

The Kaipātiki Local Board has been hearing safety concerns from residents about this area for a while. There have been several crashes into private property, with a couple of vehicles hitting buildings or coming close to it.
The Local Board, in particular member Melanie Kenrick, have been asking for a solution here to improve safety.
Auckland Transport have investigated the situation and in November will be installing a number of flexi-posts to both increase the prominence of the intersection and narrow the road width which should slow vehicles down. This solution is the only one that can be prioritised at the moment due to tight budgets.

See the attached map for the new layout:
* Red dots: Flexi-poles
* Blue lines: New road markings
* Shaded areas: Bus movements

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.

When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?

Plastic beach rubbish

Bryson from Hillcrest

Two recent emus on Takapuna beach. One lithium battery picked up from the edge of the deck of the Harbour Bridge during the recent Hikoi. My guess is the other half is sitting at the bottom of the Waitemata Harbour.
