Woman steals police car in Papatoetoe
A woman has been arrested after allegedly stealing a police car in south Auckland's Papatoetoe.
The 31-year-old was riding a motorcycle when she was pulled over by officers during a routine traffic stop on Thursday.
After she was spoken to by the officer, she locked herself in the police car, and drove it away.
The car, which had firearms inside, was located more than two hours later after an "extensive search" by police.
It is expected the woman will face charges, including for unlawfully taking a motor vehicle

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
