Sludge spill on Mark Frod Drive, Ascot Road leading to motorway- all cleaned up
An Enivrowaste truck had a tail-gate failure this afternoon, resulting in a sludge spill along roads leading from the Mangere Wastewater Treatment Plant, along Mark Ford Drive, Ascot Rd towards the motorway.
A clean-up crew has now finished cleaning up the spill.
If you happened to drive through the spill, we recommend you take your car to a car wash. If you'd prefer to wash your car at home, please avoid contact with any sludge.

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
