A Night of Christmas Serenade
All immigrant families experience a period of adjustment when settling into a new culture. Some are aware of Christmas but haven’t celebrated it before. They may feel isolated from the traditions and practices (both religious and secular), held over the festive season in our community. They may not know our popular customs of exchanging gifts, decorating Christmas trees, attending church, sharing meals with family and friends and of course, waiting for Santa Claus to arrive.
If you know of people in your neighbourhood like this, why not bring them along to C3 Howick Church, 27 Aviemore Drive, Highland Park on Friday, 24 November at 7:30pm for an evening of Christmas cheer. In this season of goodwill the evening is FREE. You’ll be warmly welcomed with an evening of music followed by refreshments. Luckily self-checkout is being pretty common in supermarkets these days and we generally use it to quickly buy a few things without the long lines. But perhaps it's appropriate to head there with your full trolley to skip the lines?
