I made a bit of a mess today. πŸ˜ƒ I made a herb garden too. πŸ˜ƒ

Sharon from Te Atatu South

Out of volcanic rocks I had lying stacked against the house wall/fence by the back gate. πŸ˜ƒ AND I made a new little potato garden (out of the few rocks I had left over!) between the two existing vege gardens for some of my overcrowded spuds coz I'm getting tiddlers, and although they are very tasty, I'd like some bigger ones too. πŸ˜ƒ AND the neighbours' cat visited me just after I'd finished building the gardens and then cleaning up the mess, so there's a couple photos of her rolling around on the patch of grass I'd just pulled some from to mulch the potatoes with! She must like the smell of freshly cut grass just as much as I do!!!!!!!! πŸ˜ƒ OR she just likes my scent, and looks forward to when the lockdown finishes, so I can pat her again!!!!! πŸ˜ƒ Heheheheheh!!!!!!!! πŸ˜ƒ In the meantime, *ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!* πŸ˜ƒ

What workplace change would you like to see most?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

This coming Monday is Labour Day in New Zealand. This public holiday marks when the eight-hour workday and 48-hour workweek became law in 1899. The idea started with Samuel Parnell, a carpenter in Wellington, who in 1840 refused to work more than eight hours a day. Since skilled workers were in short supply, his employer had to agree.

As more skilled workers arrived, employers tried to change working conditions, but Parnell and others kept pushing for better rights. In 1890, Parnell led a Labour Day parade of 1,500 people to promote the eight-hour day. He passed away shortly after, and nine years later, Labour Day became an official public holiday.

Do you feel that we have reached the ideal in working environments yet? What rights are you passionate about relating to employment? Share your thoughts!
